Evidence of Jesus
Key principle: You don't need the New Testament to see evidence of Jesus as Messiah. There is a huge amount of archaeological evidence, as well as the Bible.
Luke 2:1 mentioned leaders from the time period, historical event
Matt 2:33-23 mentioned geographical places
Luke 3:1-2 cross checks with history all the Roman and Jewish rulers
Acts 2:32 Fact of Jesus...
The central question is: Who is Jesus?
The New Testament claimed the promises of Messiah were long-predicted and meticulously fulfilled in Jesus.
Gen 3:15 First prophecy of Jesus crushing Satan--Jesus' purpose to defeat evil
Romans 16:20 
Hebrews 2:14-15 people with "fear of death" are freed
Isaiah 7:14 "virgin" calls her baby "Immanuel," God with us--a miraculous birth
Matthew 9:27 

We know the family line, the place of His birth
Jer. 23:5-6 The Lord our righteousness
Isaiah 9:1-2 prophecy of where Jesus was to grow up
Isa 8:14 Prophecy that Jesus will be a stumbling stone to Jerusalem
Isa 50 The sacrifice of Jesus was foretold 700 years prior.
Isa 53 He bore our sorrows, our iniquities fell on Him.

Application:

Left to yourself, you can't fix humanity. Our problems are spiritual, inside us.

Our faith is in the authority of the Word of God that Jesus is the fulfillment of the promises of God to defeat evil and restore our relationship to Our Heavenly Father.
